What We Do

At Anderson Music Studio, we teach Suzuki violin lessons. But, we also nurture musicianship along with character. We believe that every child is capable of amazing musical ability, so we engage parents as partners in the child’s development because we get farther when we work together.

Through musical study, we help students build a toolkit for successful lifelong learning. We work to nurture abilities that benefit students far beyond the music classroom. Discipline, critical thinking, poise, resilience, and patience are just a few traits a student will develop through their Suzuki violin studies.

We don’t expect that your child will be the next Itzahk Perlman, but we do expect that they’ll complete their musical studies a well-rounded person. Playing an instrument really well is just a bonus.

How We Do It

Our philosophies are firmly rooted in the Suzuki Method. As such, we emphasize:

  • A strong relationship between student, parent, and teacher
  • Listening to music, because not only is it fun, but it helps us learn
  • Learning with other children, mostly because that’s fun, too

Plus, the method stresses learning at a pace that makes sense for the student. There are no standardized tests here – forget the pressure, we’re in no hurry.

Who We Are

Anderson Music Studio is directed by Ms. Nissa Anderson, an educator and violinist based in the western suburbs of Chicago.

Nissa has a breadth of teaching experience in public and private settings. She also holds a bachelor’s in music education, which is something you don’t find at your average private studio. She is a talented musician but her main passion is education.

What Parents Are Saying

“I have searched and searched for a violin teacher who would help my daughter enjoy playing. We have finally found that with Nissa my daughter looks forward to practicing and always smiling when Nissa comes over. So happy our daughter no longer wants to quit orchestra.”

“Ms. Nissa is a wonderful balance: warm and nurturing, yet strict about the basics (posture, bow hold and position, technique, etc.) My daughter has experienced significant growth under Ms. Nissa’s tutelage. I highly recommend Ms. Nissa and Anderson Music Studio!”
